The Client’s Challenge

The homeowner had already selected and purchased their preferred EV charger but needed an experienced installer to complete the remainder of the works. This included upgrading the electrical infrastructure, installing an additional consumer unit, and ensuring the charger was positioned and connected correctly.

They were looking for reassurance that the installation would be completed safely, neatly, and in full compliance with current regulations — without unnecessary disruption to their home.

Our Solution

As the charger had already been chosen, our role focused on designing the most practical and discreet installation around the existing electrical setup.

We worked with the homeowner to agree on the ideal charger location, planned a low-visibility cable route, and identified a suitable position inside the property for a new dedicated consumer unit to support the EV charger safely and reliably.

Installation & Delivery

To safely facilitate the additional load, the mains supply was isolated and a new metal consumer unit complete with surge protection and a 40 A Type A RCBO dedicated to the EV charger circuit was installed.

A new radial supply was installed from the consumer unit to feed the 7 kW Andersen EV charger, which was positioned on the front wall of the property in line with the homeowner’s preference. The cabling was routed discreetly from the fuse board cupboard and clipped neatly at low level along the external side return wall before reaching the charger location.

Once installed, the charger was fully commissioned and tested to ensure safe, reliable operation.

The Outcome

The homeowner now benefits from a professionally installed Andersen A3 EV charger, fitted exactly where and how they wanted it.

The system provides a premium, clutter-free charging experience, featuring Andersen’s fully hidden 5.5metre tethered cable, smart app functionality, built-in solar compatibility, and the reassurance of seven years of Andersen Care Cover.
