MyEnergi Zappi – EV Charger and Harvi WiFi monitor
Thames Ditton
Job: To install customer supplied 22kW Zappi EV charger on existing cable.
Skills: 18th Edition Wiring Regulations, IET COP for EV Charging, NICEIC, ECA
Enquiry to Completion – 5 days
The Client’s Challenge
The homeowner had recently completed a full property renovation and, knowing they wanted an EV charger, asked the on-site electrician to install the required supply in advance.
Once the works were complete, it became clear that although the electrical capacity was suitable, no cable had been installed for a property load clamp — a requirement for compliance with current DNO guidelines. The homeowner had been advised by other installers that additional cabling would be required, potentially involving disruptive remedial work.
Our Solution
After being contacted, our team attended site the following day to carry out a detailed assessment and review the available options.
As the client had already purchased a MyEnergi Zappi 22 kW tethered EV charger, we recommended the use of a MyEnergi Harvi wireless load management device. This provided a compliant, cost-effective solution without the need to install additional cabling, allowing the system to meet DNO requirements following post-installation notification.
Installation & Delivery
We prepared the existing supply by installing a new external SWA gland before fitting the EV charger. Although the consumer unit already had surge protection installed, an additional 40 A MCB was required for this installation method.
The Harvi device was then installed and paired wirelessly, before the full system and Wi-Fi connectivity were tested in line with BS 7671 Wiring Regulations and the IET Code of Practice.
Following successful testing, the charger was handed over to the homeowner with a full demonstration of the MyEnergi app and charging modes. An Electrical Installation Certificate and Part P notification were issued upon completion.
The Outcome
The homeowner now benefits from convenient home EV charging with access to three charging modes — ECO, ECO+, and FAST — allowing smart charging during cheaper off-peak periods using a time-of-use energy tariff.
The system is also future-ready, with the option to integrate solar PV at a later date, enabling charging using clean, self-generated renewable energy.
Client Feedback
The homeowner was delighted to learn that no additional cabling was required, having previously been told otherwise, and was particularly pleased that the entire process — from enquiry to completion — was completed within just five days.
